LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s 6-3 Trump vs. CASA, Inc. decision to repudiate nationwide injunctions, which prohibit the government from enforcing a law or policy anywhere in the country.

Statement from Mike Young, Executive Director, California Environmental Voters:

“By changing the rules now after years of allowing injunctions to block progressive policies that improved lives, the Court is signaling a clear double standard and playing favorites. This decision makes it harder for the public to challenge federal overreach. It forces people to fight harmful policies across different states, rather than standing together to seek justice.

When injunctions were used to halt efforts that invested in clean energy, expanded access to healthcare, protected immigrants, or defended civil rights, the Court looked the other way. Now, as we attempt to stop policies that would harm our most vulnerable, the rules have changed.

The Court is no longer calling “balls and strikes” like Chief Justice Roberts likes to claim — it’s increasingly rigging the rules of the game, favoring the interests of policies that favor their ideology at the expense of hurting everyday people. The American people deserve a judiciary that applies the law fairly, not one that bends the rules to serve a political agenda.”
