ENVIROVOTERS STATEMENT ON BIDEN’S ENVIRONMENTAL APPOINTMENTS: REGAN TO EPA, HAALAND TO DOI
Oakland, CA – The California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) today released statements on the nominations of Michael Regan to lead the Environmental Protection Agency and Rep. Deb Haaland to lead the Department of the Interior.
Statements from Mary Creasman, CEO, California Environmental Voters:
In Response to Michael Regan’s Nomination:
“I’m excited to see Michael Regan chosen as the next Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency. We are eager for him to set a courageous agenda at the EPA and center the voices, experiences, and solutions of Black, Indigenous, and people of color. This needs to be a centerpiece of how we address environmental issues and the climate crisis.”
In Response to Rep. Haaland’s Nomination:
“I commend President-Elect Biden’s historic nomination of Deb Haaland as Secretary of the Interior. She will be the first Native American to lead the Department – a long overdue appointment. She has been at the forefront of addressing the climate crisis and will bring her vast experience protecting America’s public lands to the Interior Department.”
ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
