OAKLAND, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to 2024-25 Proposed May Revision Adjustments to the Governor’s Budget.
Statement from Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer, California Environmental Voters:
“As today’s news provided more details on the severity of the cuts the state is facing, the bigger context we all need to keep our sights on is that we are in an existential crisis and there is no time left to delay or deflect.
The wellbeing of our families and our future depend on funding the transition to clean energy and resilience now and every year. The significant cuts to climate solutions should concern us all, especially given this proposal is silent on leveraging a climate bond, oil and gas subsidies, and corporate handouts to continue this necessary work.
With a month of budget negotiations left to go, these should be some of the first acts of business for the Legislature and Governor. We look forward to partnering with our state leaders to finalize a courageous budget and climate bond by the end of June.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
